Every Now and Every Then: Recurrence in history.

[…] Recurrence is the inadvertent repeating of an event in history. Recurrence is difficult to identify and measure due to the subjectivity of history. On a broad level, war is a recurring event. Until an alternative is proven as effective as war in resolving issues that war resolves, war will continue to be a recurring event. Specifics of events, however, are difficult to identify as recurrences.
